The code concept and process for stair climbing portion was started and finished by Mo.
Nigel finalized seat and track base design. Material selection analysis and math were conducted to ensure a sufficiently strong material was used. The base chassis design and support structures were also determined and designed.
Avinash began suspension design and calculations were carried out to validate the system. Damping ratio, spring coefficient and damping coefficients were all calculated. A suspension that would work for our system was chosen!
Self balancing force requirements was determined by Avinash. The force needed by the electric cylinders were determined and a cylinder was chosen!
Arshak began motor selection calculations. Peak torque required by the motor was first calculated and chosen. This allowed for the gear ratio for the treads and the wheels of the wheelchair to be finalized!
Abhi determined the necessary microcontroller that would be needed to run in our system. This was researched to ensure that parallel thinking was capable and the desired components necessary to power the microcontroller.
With our design well underway we have started to identify different vendors that we will contact or order parts from to begin the physical prototyping process. Each team member is responsible for finding the vendor or identifying criteria for vendor selection based on the components they have selected for their subfunction.
