Now that all the initial research for design is complete, the detailed engineering analysis and design can begin!
Mo started working on the functionality of the wheelchair. The first software control that was started and designed was the joystick movement of the wheelchair. Basic controls with customer satisfaction in mind was designed.
Nigel started track dimension, specifications and part research for stair climbing was conducted. The design prioritized high grip/frictional treads while maintaining smaller sizing.
Research on the bike suspensions and ways to calculate and analyze a suspension was started by Avinash.
Research on electric actuators available on market was started by Avinash.
Powertrain chain drive design was started with Nigel and Arshak. A motorcycle like design was chosen to ensure that the wheelchair was capable of movement for self balancing without causing any issues with the powertrain system.
Abhi started sensor research. Determined what sensors would be needed for the wheelchair to carryout self balancing, 2 Inclinometers and accelerometers were chosen.
